Seeking Volunteers for Workers for Christ United

Workers for Christ United helps churches and ministry organizations with limited budgets renovate or update their facilities by providing free labor for small construction projects. Volunteer construction teams travel to sites within 300 miles of our home base in Birmingham, Alabama, to use our time and talents in service of God’s Kingdom.

We encourage you to give prayerful consideration to volunteering with WFCU on our next construction project. No trade skills are required. However, there are two requirements for participation: you must have a desire to share Christ with others and want to support churches that preach the gospel.

We are also seeking projects for our teams. If you lead a small church or ministry organization in need of assistance with facility upgrades, we encourage you to reach out to us.

Why We Do This Work

Many small churches and Christian organizations have facilities that are too small, outdated, or ill-suited for their purposes, but they cannot afford to expand or update their facilities. As a result, they are unable to reach as many people for Christ as they otherwise could. By providing free labor for construction projects, WFCU can help these churches and Christian organizations reduce costs and complete these projects to expand their ministries.

Projects may include interior framing, suspended ceilings, sheetrock, vinyl flooring, interior finishing, and the like. There is no cost to participants. All meals and lodging are provided for volunteers during construction work that is typically accomplished in a week’s time. Materials for the job and one daily meal are usually provided by the host church or organization while WFCU provides the labor.

In addition to supporting the future ministries of the organization, the construction process itself creates fellowship and witness opportunities. WFCU welcomes and encourages participation from members of the host church or organization. Participants are blessed by making new friends, enjoying fellowship with other Christian men, and assisting an organization in need.

Since its founding in 1996, WFCU has assisted more than 50 churches and Christian organizations across the Southeast. Several churches that received WFCU assistance in turn have sent volunteers on subsequent WFCU projects and other mission trips around the world. The members of the sponsored churches and organizations feel blessed by WFCU, but the men who participate in the project often feel that they are receiving the greater blessing.

WFCU is not supported by or associated with any particular church or denomination, and we are willing to consider offering support to any Christian church. We encourage participation from a wide range of Christian volunteers.
